Description
This photo was taken in Fort Tryon Park in the upper reaches of Manhattan. In parts of the park, the landscape remains untouched and you can get a sense of the primitive landscape which was known to Native Americans and the first European arrivals.

What a wonderful image, Sarah! So nice to see something of Manhattan other than concrete and stores! This is such a natural retreat for man and creatures. I hope it is well used and treasured by people. I can picture sitting on one of those rocks and enjoying the summer warmth!. Liked and favored.

Thanks, Karen! Except for the lower (southern) end of it where the Cloisters museum sits and some gardens even further south, Fort Tryon is pretty much unoccupied, unlike Central Park or other city park areas. That actually is fine with me. I live in the neighborhood and like knowing there's a truly "wild" and ignored bit of Manhattan.
