Description
This photograph shows part of a fence around Bennett Park in Washington Heights, New York (upper Manhattan). Located inside is a large open space, a children's playground, and a flag pole marking the point of highest natural altitude on Manhattan Island. Now a pleasant park, the area was once the scene of Revolutionary War battles.
