This headlight was photographed in the small German town of Schierstein near Wiesbaden, Germany.
One of my great discoveries in a period when I was suffering from severe visual difficulties was the amazing variety and beauty of headlights. Some are truly sculptural works of art. I don't know anything about cars, don't own one and don't drive, but availability of the subject matter was just a matter of walking down the sidewalks where hundreds of cars are parked every day.
I approach the task of creating an abstract as a matter of framing and composition of the elements of shapes, textures, reflections, colors and shadows. Every headlight was unique not only in design, but in environment. Two cars, even of the same make and model and color, parked one behind the other would have different and unique clusters of shapes and reflections.
Note: The watermark will not appear on the print you purchase.

I see art as not only creation, but also (and maybe primarily) as discovery. For the most part I do collage work and photography, but also enjoy pen and marker drawing, some occasional painting as well as more three dimensional work such as making baskets, dolls, and other objects. As you will see if you wander through my galleries, I have a very wide range of interests. Check out my Artist of the Day feature in Today's Visions.com, curated and written by Mark Myhaver. http://galleries.todaysvisions.com/2014/08/13/todays-featured-artist-sarah-loft/ Some of my artwork appears on products sold at Zazzle.
