The iconic fusion of the Biblical Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden and the cross on which Jesus Christ died is an ancient one. Christians identify the cross as the new life-giving tree which will return us to paradise. There are many design variations on this theme. This one is a replica cross (pendant) from Byzantium in the 5th century.
